With flu season winding down I thought I would share with you some ideas to staying healthy so that next flu season you can be proactive instead of reactive. Below are 8 suggestions to steering clear of the flu and colds.
1. Get Proper Rest. a body that is sleep-deprived is vulnerable to many ailments. Help your immunity to stay healthy by getting enough sleep every evening. The National Sleep Foundation says adults usually need 7-9 hours of sleep for optimal health and children should get between 10-12 hours of sleep a night. 2. Clean both of your hands Frequently. Frequent hand-washing lowers the number of germs on your fingers and lessens the possibility of transmitting germs into your body while coming in contact with your eyes, cleaning your nose, eating, etc. 3. Itchy Eyes, Runny Nose? Grab a tissue! Make use of tissue to wipe your eyes or to wipe your nostrils. The tissue is definitely a barrier that is effective in stopping germs from getting in your body and from getting germs on your hands which can spread to other people. 4. Maintain a healthy Weight and have a balanced diet plan. A healthier weight and a healthy diet can keep your body working at its best potential. Provide your immunity system an extra boost by eating more Vitamin C. citric acid and fruits tend to be full of this valuable nutrient, but it can also be obtained in tablet form in several over counter supplements and vitamins. 5. Get to the gym regularly. Giving your body exercise regularly not only helps you keep physical health, but has been shown to improve how you feel too.
6. Think you're coming down with something? Act Fast. Frequently, using an over-the-counter solution at the very first sign that you might be getting ill will keep you from the full-blown version of the illness. Not only can these remedies reduce your symptoms, they often times shorten the illness as well. 7. Give Consideration to getting a Flu Shot. without a doubt the elderly, small children and people who suffer with persistent ailments should get yearly vaccinations against the flu, you should get one as a goal of being proactive with your health. Visit or call your doctor to decide if a flu shot suits you. 8. If you’re Sick stay in bed! if you're ill, do yourself as well as others a favor and stay home. Don’t needlessly expose others to your illness. Get the sleep, liquids, and medicines you need to get well. Get in to your doctor's office or if you're a member of CompMed Rx call a doctor.
Hopefully everyone made it out of this flu season without any major issues. Having access to a doctor is an important part of getting and staying healthy.
